Our Website Design Process
Vision’s Website Design Process Stands Apart From Others
We follow a consistent, tried-and-true process in client discovery and website design.
Our goal is to be very clear about what we are doing and why so there are no surprises.
However, there are times that we must customize these steps to serve your unique needs.
Please ask questions along the way and we will shine the light on the path as much as we can.
You have ideas about what should be included in your website: about us, description of services, a portfolio of past work, testimonials, and more. Taking what you share with us about your ideal clients or customers and what we can learn about these buyer personas, we will draft a flow of content and navigation that takes each visitor through an online experience from “Who are you and what’s in it for me?” to “I think you might be able to help. Let’s talk.”
User Experience and Content
It’s our job to ask the right questions to uncover the truth about why you need a new website and exactly what it is you’re trying to achieve for your business. You might think we are asking for more information than we need. We want to understand the whole picture so nothing is left out. Even the tiniest of clues can make a difference as we target your brand and message for your ideal audience.
The Sitemap and Prototype
Once we have all the information we need, we’ll build a sitemap so we can all get on the same page very quickly about what it is we’re trying to communicate and the best way to structure the information. Here’s an example of a sitemap. Words alone can’t convey what we intend to build or how it will work. Besides, the jargon we use to describe what we do is Greek to most. At this point, we will build an interactive prototype in the browser to show you how the solution will work. There is no attention to design at this stage; don’t expect it to look pretty! However, it WILL get us closer to a mutual understanding very quickly.
We take what you provide to proof and polish or we can write your copy for you. Either way, we want to make sure that the written copy on the website presents you and your business in the appropriate professional light that will resonate with your clients.
This is when the creative juices really sing. Well, no, not actually, but the creative fun begins in the design stage. This is when we bring your interactive prototype to life to match your brand identity, we deploy your brand story and messages
Finally, we close the door and set to work making sure everything is plugged in and tested before deploying your shiny new website to your host. We get your last signature on the final project and push the button. Your website goes live on the host server so you can show it off to the whole world.
We stay with you for 30 days after the website launch to make sure all systems are working smoothly. We provide assistance to get you comfortable with your access to the WordPress dashboard and will fix any errors that are discovered. It is not unusual for ideas for new features to pop up. We are happy to act on these ideas and will do so under a new contract or scope of work with an estimate.
After 30 days we will either relinquish control of your website to you or remain by your side with a monthly care package agreement. Should your website need a repair arising from a security breach or update conflict, we can help you at our hourly rate of $75.
If you want us to design your website, the first step is to complete our website design worksheet.
